Why is ceph accreditation important

This independent agency accredits public health schools and programs. People who want to pursue a Master of Public Health MPH will want to look for an accredited school or program that offers the kind of academic education and standards that the industry will recognize.

CEPH is the body that grants that accreditation. What is CEPH accreditation? This is how serious the industry takes CEPH accreditation. The accreditation process requires schools and programs to go through several peer-reviewed evaluations.

The Accreditation Process takes approximately two years and requires fulfilling a list of requirements for areas important for public health schools to complete. Accreditation provides potential students the guarantee that the program they enter will properly educate them in the required areas of study. CEPH set the standards there are more than twenty standards of criteria that need to be met for a school of public health or public health program to maintain quality in curriculum, learning environment and financial stability of the program.

CEPH also accredits public health programs, including MPH programs, at institutions that do not have their own schools of public health. If a school or program is CEPH accredited, you can be comfortable that it has met all the standards established by the public health profession. CEPH accredits two separate categories, schools of public health and public health programs, and there is a separate set of accreditation standards for each.

The major difference visible to prospective students would be that schools of public health generally offer many more concentrations or specializations and degree offerings than public health programs. Programs are only required to offer a single MPH degree.

Institutions listed in either category have the same, full accreditation status. The accreditation criteria are published on the CEPH website in this page document.
